An armed society is a must if Liberty is to be defended. Since the beginning of our nation we have understood the importance of arms to the continuation of Freedom. When the Second Amendment was adopted, it provided and enabled the people to fight a tyrannical government. That’s what the American Revolutionary War in 1776 was all about. If the patriots were not armed we might still be British subjects. The founding fathers in their wisdom knew that we might again be under the rule of a tyrannical government in the future, and wanted to make sure we would have the means to defend our freedom from such a government. The Second Amendment was never about hunting as the gun grabbers might suggest.
